My path crossed with Michael and Holly Bronco purely by chance. My husband Haresh had received a holiday gift from a friend for some workout sessions at Bronco’s Gym, and when Michael came to visit with Haresh, I happened to be home, so I sat in on the conversation. His approach to health and fitness was very direct and to the point, basically a change of lifestyle. This piqued my interest and I asked him if I could also get some workout sessions. He suggested that I meet his wife Holly, who he thought would be a good fit for my needs.
In our first meeting, Holly made me realize that I had not gained the extra 8 pounds (which is a lot for a 5 foot frame) in a short period of time, so it would take time to shed as well. Holly spent a lot of time chatting with me about my eating habits, my lifestyle etc. The thing that I loved most about her was that she did not give me any unrealistic expectations. She told me that it would be hard work; and her gentle, but firm, approach really encouraged me.
Aside from the workout sessions, she began to change one thing at a time in my diet instead of bombarding me with all kinds of food restrictions or substitutions. One week it was to add more water to my daily intake, then another to have some protein at coffee time instead of going for something sweet.
Being a student of Ballroom Dancing, she listened to my needs and customized various workout routines to make me stronger in areas that I needed for dancing. Over time, I got trimmer, felt stronger, and had better posture, which all helped on the dance floor. Over the past year, I have had more stamina and strength to keep up at my dance competitions.
I still enjoy eating out and enjoying the foods that I once so often consumed; but have learned to do everything in moderation.
The biggest lesson that I learned from Holly is that we have to take responsibility for ourselves and our health; and that we need to be healthy not only for ourselves, but for our loved ones. She did not promise any miracles; just that she would be there to guide me and support me. For this I am ever so grateful.
Thanks Holly,
